Nigeria Customs Service says it secured 1,763 seizures worth N11.9 billion in July and August 2023 to deter smuggling.

Bashir Adeniyi, the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, disclosed this on Thursday while speaking with journalists regarding his achievements in his first 100 days in Office.

According to the CGC, the agency had successfully intercepted various contrabands, including arms and illicit drugs.

He added that 62 suspects are undergoing legal procedures over smuggling related offences.

He said, โ€œIn the ongoing battle against smuggling, the NCS has achieved impressive results over the past eight months. With 1,763 seizures, valuing a substantial N11.9 billion in Duty Paid Valueโ€.
