The Niger/Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has handed over a Mitsubishi canter laden with railway locomotive parts to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Niger State for necessary action.
The canter was intercepted along the Minna-Bida road by officers of the customs service in the state.
The Customs Area Controller Niger Kogi Area Command, Mr Busayo Kadejo, at the formal handover in Minna warned those engaging in such acts to desist or face unpleasant consequences.
Kadejo explained that officers and men of the Niger-Kogi Area of the Customs Service are not resting on their oars but working to ensure that anyone caught, no matter how highly placed, will be made to face the wrath of the law.
He stated, โThe Mitsubishi canter laden with railway locomotive parts and with registration number SUL 51 ZY was intercepted on Minna Bida road by the Customs patrol team. However, the driver and other occupants took to their heels and abandoned the vehicle.โ
โIt is sad that while the Federal Government is doing its best to cater for its citizenry, some unpatriotic Nigerians are bent on sabotaging these efforts without regard to the negative consequences and economic implications such action might causeโ.
Mr Busayo Kadejo also commended officers and men of the Niger Kogi Area Command for their commitment to duty in ensuring zero tolerance for smuggling activities and protecting critical national assets.
The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Niger State Command, Ahmed Mohammed Danโdare, while receiving the vandalized items, expressed happiness at the synergy existing between security agencies in the state, which he noted has been yielding positive results.
Danโdare, who commended Mr Busayo Kadejo and his men for their efforts, assured that the NSCDC, on their part will do the needful in order to succeed.
