Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has released the first batch of 38 persons appointed as his special advisers, personal assistants and directors-general of parastatals in the state.
Last weekend, the governor, while cautioning All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholders who had frictions over chairmanship of the party to sheath their swords, assured that he would release lists of appointees in batches.
He had also disclosed that his cabinet will not be bogus but that economic opportunities would be created to accommodate more persons.
The announcement of the 38 was contained in a press statement released by the governorโs Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Ogbeche, on Wednesday morning.
This comes nearly 10 months after Otu was sworn in on 29 May 2023.
Inside sources told OsunDailyNG that the governor was inundated with lists for appointments as a way of settlements for working for his governorship victory.
The lists were a blend of party loyalists, academics, professionals, former House of Assembly members, non-indigenes, youths, and women groups cutting across all the 18 local government areas of the state.
Otu appointed three as Special Advisers on Religion for the three senatorial districts as he had appointed security advisers earlier.
Mr Sunday Michael, Linus Obogo, Prof Peter Oti, Dan Obi and Ugba Murphy and Jake Enya are some of those who previously served in ex-governor Liyel Imoke and Ben Ayadeโs administrations.
