A High Court in Abuja on Tuesday barred the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP, from arresting the stateโs Social Democratic Party, SDP, spokesperson, Mr Faruk Adejoh-Audu.
The Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Security, DSS, and the Director of DSS in the state were also restrained from arresting Adejoh-Audu.
The restraining order against the security agencies will be in effect until the final determination of a motion on notice for the enforcement of fundamental human rights filed by Adejoh-Audu, who claimed the defendants were threatening his life.
Adejoh-Audu went to court following a disagreement with Kogi Police Commissioner, Bethrand Unuoha.
The SDP spokesperson had on November 29 accused the CP of working with thugs against his partyโs interests in the recently concluded governorship election in Kogi.
However, the CP convened a news conference the next day in Lokoja and handed Adejoh-Audu a 24-hour deadline to support his charges or โbe ready to face the consequences of his actionsโ.
