The Chairman of Bali Local Government Council of Taraba State, Aboki Dauda, has identified the lack of proper boundary demarcations between chiefdoms as the major reason for instability in the council.

Making the observation on Thursday in Jalingo, the need for the state government to constitute a committee that would be assigned the responsibility of carrying out the demarcations has become necessary.

Raising alarm about how some traditional rulers within the council have been interfering in issues outside their domains, the call for the demarcation of chiefdoms, if heeded, he believes would go a long way in addressing the instability in the council.

โ€œLack of proper boundary demarcations between the various chiefdoms in my local government council is creating confusion among our traditional rulers,โ€ he stated.

According to him, traditional leaders in Bali are busy interfering in issues that do not belong to their areas of jurisdiction, thereby frustrating the peace of the local government.

Advocating for proactive action from the state government, he said such a suggestion, if adhered to, will assist in addressing the myriad of problems in the council.

The council boss, who was of the view that most of the land disputes in the council are happening as a result of the misunderstanding of some monarchs who take advantage of their positions to forcefully grab land from the people, passionately urged the state government to urgently intervene.

Citing the recent land disputes in Sabon-Dale community of the council where farmers were attacked and no fewer than two persons were inflicted with various degrees of injuries, he opined that such occurrences will be minimized when there are boundary demarcations between chiefdoms.

He urged farmers in the council not to take the law into their hands, he emphasized the need for them to always channel their grievances to the appropriate authorities, which he believed cannot be overemphasized.
