The Osun State House committee that has been investigating the series of petitions written against the embattled Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo, presented its report on Friday.

The report was presented during plenary by the chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Public, and Legal Matters, Kanmi Ajibola.

He said the committee observed โ€œunjust suspension and victimisation of staffโ€ whom the panel constituted by the CJ could not indict, even as they were later exonerated by ICPC and discharged and acquitted by the court.

He enumerated the anomalies discovered as follows: โ€œunilateral award of an e-affidavit contract to a consultant by the Chief Judge without the approval of the state government and without a Memorandum of Understanding or the involvement of Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS) and government participation.

โ€œDisobedience of court order on proceeds of bank robbery; misappropriation and diversion of funds in the running cost account; and embezzlement of robe allowances, among others.โ€

After the presentation, the House adopted the report of the committee.

It also resolved that the certified true copy of the report, including all documents received as evidence, should be made available to the governor for onward transmission to the National Judicial Council (NJC) for further action.

DAILY POST recalls that on November 17, 2023, at the plenary, the House urged the committee to expedite action on the investigation of the petitions and report to the House within seven days.

This was after the House resolved to suspend the Chief Judge and directed the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, to swear in an acting Chief Judge.
