The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has urged the troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) to remain diligent and continue to discharge their constitutional roles in defense of Nigeriaโ€™s territorial integrity.

Captain Nuredeen Bello, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, HQ Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, in a statement said the COAS made the assertion during a keynote address at the just-concluded Joint Nigerian Army Combat Service Support Corps and Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) end-of-the-year 2023 West African Social Activities, popularly known as WASA.

According to the statement, the COAS, who was ably represented at the occasion by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Mohammed Usman, commended the efforts of the Combat Service Support Corps and NACOLM for maintaining the long NA tradition of the annual WASA.

He enjoined them to translate the synergy into effective and efficient service delivery of the Combat Service Support in the field.

The COAS further gave his continuous, robust support to the Combat Service Support Corps to enable it to sustain and enhance its capacity and capabilities in the year 2024.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Corps Commander Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME), Major General Hassan Tafida, on behalf of the Combat Service Support Corps and NACOLM, thanked God for the event and welcomed the Special Guest of Honour, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, expressing delight at all the invited guests for honoring their invitation with their presence.

He equally thanked the COAS for graciously granting approval and providing the resources for the joint WASA.

General Tafida averred that in the outgoing training year, the Combat Service Support Corps has contributed immensely to the overall successes recorded by the NA operations in the North East, North West, and other operations in the country, such as Ex GOLDEN DOWN, Ex STILL WATERS, amongst others.

He stressed that these exercises have gone a long way in curtailing criminal activities across the Country. He further encouraged the Combat Service Support Corps to redouble their efforts for better logistics support to all NA activities in the year ahead.
