Troops recover 56 explosive devices in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recovered 56 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) allegedly planted by suspected terrorists on the Marte–Dikwa Bridge in Borno State.
This was revealed in a post by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on X on Friday.
According to the post, the explosives were discovered during a clearance operation carried out by soldiers from the 24 Brigade in Dikwa, Borno State.
Makama stated that the IEDs were carefully placed by suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) with the aim of causing mass casualties and blocking both military and civilian movement along the road.
“The troops, acting on credible intelligence, uncovered the devices before detonation. A total of 56 prepared IEDs were recovered at the scene,” the post said.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was quickly deployed to safely remove and neutralize the devices.
Photos from the operation show the explosives laid across major parts of the bridge, which connects key towns in northern Borno.
Military authorities have reportedly maintained surveillance in the area while further clearance operations continue.

ADC not for sale — Youth Wing vows to resist ‘party hijack’

The Youth Wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has kicked against any attempt by political elites to hijack the party’s mandate, declaring emphatically that “ADC is not for sale”.
In a statement on Friday, the Youth Wing backed by State Youth Leaders, Secretaries, Women Leaders, and grassroots members nationwide, warned that some politicians were trooping into the party not out of genuine conviction but to exploit the party’s hard-earned credibility and structures.
In the statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Dr. Musa Matara, the youth wing stressed that while it was not opposed to any genuine coalition or alliance, any merger must be formal, transparent and built on integrity and national interest.
“Any coalition must involve consultations with the entire party structure, including State Executives, Zonal and Local Government Leaders, the Youth Wing at all levels, Women Leaders, and our grassroots coordinators,” the statement said, adding that no such consultations have taken place to justify recent claims of mass leadership resignations or structural realignments.
Reaffirming the party’s core values, the statement stressed that the ADC is not a party for “political migrants” seeking new platforms for selfish ambitions.
“ADC has a deeply entrenched structure from the national level down to the polling unit and it cannot be hijacked or rebranded by opportunism. We do not promote political promiscuity hopping from party to party in search of power. ADC rejects money-driven politics. In our party, what matters is integrity, credibility, and genuine passion for service,” the Youth Wing declared.
The group also called on Nigerian youths, women, people with disabilities and all patriotic citizens to rally behind the party’s vision for national transformation, describing the ADC as “the last credible alternative on Nigeria’s political landscape”.
“To the new entrants and political migrants: we welcome only those who share our values and mission for national transformation. ADC is not just a political party; it is a mission-driven movement for national liberation, justice, and development,” the statement added.
