English professional footballer, Reece James, has reportedly suffered a major injury that will keep him off the pitch for a while.
Reports obtained by OsunDailyNG on Friday (today) revealed that the Chelsea captain picked up a fresh hamstring injury during the week ahead of the clubโs English Premier League clash against West Ham United.
Football London reports that the 23-year-old right-back may miss a couple of matches due to the fresh injury.
It could be recalled that the England international played during his sideโs Premier League opener against Liverpool on Sunday, a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
James was substituted in the 76th minute against Liverpool last week Sunday.
OsunDailyNG reports that Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, handed James the clubโs captain ban last week. This is coming after Cesar Azpilicuetaโs departure to Atletico Madrid this summer.
Earlier, when asked why he took his new skipper off against The Reds, Pochettino said: โBecause he was tired.
โYou need to see from where he came. The first thing we did when we arrived was to assess and analyse all of the players from the past.
โHe was injured for three or four months. This pre-season was tough for him, we didnโt want to take any risk and that is why at 80 minutes, we wanted to avoid the risk.โ
While it is not certain how long James will be out, football journalist Nathan Gissing, said he is billed to undergo a scan on Friday.
