Premier League side, Chelsea have sold their 19-year-old winger and former Santos player, Angelo Gabriel to Saudi Pro League club, Al-Nassr.
Angelo Gabrielโs move to the Saudi Pro League club is significant as it reflects a growing trend of Saudi clubs targeting young, promising players in addition to experienced stars.
Angelo Gabriel is among the several players who have left Chelsea this summer. His departure puts him in the company of other notable Chelsea departures such as Conor Gallagher, Ian Maatsen, and Romelu Lukaku.
Having been signed by Chelsea from Santos in July 2023, Gabriel has yet to make an appearance for the Blues. Instead, he spent last season on loan at French club Strasbourg, where he featured in 24 matches.
Under Chelseaโs new manager, Enzo Maresca, Gabriel was deemed surplus to requirements as the Blues sought to streamline their squad.
While the possibility of another loan spell was considered for Angelo Gabriel, a permanent transfer was ultimately agreed upon.
One interesting aspect of this transfer is the ยฃ6 million profit Chelsea has made from Gabrielโs sale to Al-Nassr. This return is particularly noteworthy given that the player never played a competitive match for Chelsea.
This sale is part of Chelseaโs ongoing effort to balance their expenditures, especially in light of their significant spending in the transfer market.
The Blues have been among the top spenders in recent transfer windows, investing heavily in new signings. Despite this, they have managed to offset their expenses through astute player sales.
With regards to Angelo Gabrielโs contract details with Al-Nassr, specific terms have not been disclosed. However, there are indications that the young talent is poised for a substantial and enduring tenure with the club, given the potential of his career.
