Former England international, Michael Owen has backed Newcastle United to qualify for the Champions League round of 16.
Owen also predicted that Manchester United will not qualify for the next stage of the Champions League.
Both Newcastle and Man United face pivotal games this week which will determine whether they will continue playing in the Champions League this season.
Eddie Howeโs men will face AC Milan at St. Jamesโ Park on Wednesday while the Red Devils will host Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Speaking to BoyleSports, Owen said: โNewcastle were incredibly unlucky not to get the three points against Paris (PSG).
โEverybody is unanimous in that not being a handball and they were very unlucky to concede. It put a completely different complexion on the game.
โHaving said that, Newcastle are still in with a strong chance of qualifying. Iโd fancy them at home against AC Milan considering their support and momentum.
โI fancy them to win at home, and you wouldnโt be 100% sure that Paris will go to Dortmund and win. Newcastle still have a good chance, but they would have had an even bigger one had the penalty not been given.โ
Owen added, โI canโt see Manchester United qualifying. I donโt think theyโre good enough. I want all the English teams to do well, but I just donโt think Man United have done well enough to reach the next round.โ
