The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to redouble efforts at tracking financiers of terrorism in the country.

Musa made the call when he received the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, on a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Friday.

This is according to a statement signed by the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, on Friday in Abuja.

Musa said that tracking financiers of terrorism was one of the non-kinetic means of fighting the scourge across the globe.

He assured the EFCC boss that the Armed Forces would not derail from its commitment in ensuring the survival of the current democratic dispensation.

Musa hailed the commissionโ€™s chairman for his unique approach of leveraging the potential of technology to fight corruption and other forms of economic crime.

The CDS restated that the military had zero tolerance for corrupt practices, adding that it adopted General Court Martial in checkmating culpable personnel.

He tasked the EFCC boss to encourage public office holders and other Nigerians in positions of authority to uphold good governance towards forestalling economic breakdown and insecurity.

According to him, the Armed Forces is working in synergy with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other stakeholders to fight oil theft in the country.

Speaking earlier, the EFCC boss said the visit was to explore avenues of cooperation and collaboration in the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.

Olukoyede said he had, on assumption of office, laid so much emphasis on the need for Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of collaboration, being key to winning the war against corruption.

He further stated that the war against corruption must be won, adding that the menace had destroyed the economy and at same time dented the countryโ€™s image.

The EFCC boss said that cognitive responsibility had to be embraced by the military and other security agencies, adding that the war against corruption should be seen as everybodyโ€™s business.
