The Central Bank of Nigeria has released its first Monetary Policy Committee 2024 schedule under its governor, Olayemi Cardoso.
The apex bank made this known in a calendar posted on its official website on Friday.
MPC is the highest decision-making body of the apex bank, responsible for determining interest rates and other monetary policy measures.
Accordingly, CBN governor, Olayemi Cardoso will hold his first MPC meeting since resuming office on February 26 and February 27, 2024.
Others include march 25th and 26th; May 20th and 21st; July 22nd and 23rd; September 22nd and 23rd and November 25th and 26th 2024.
MPC was last held in July 2023 and was presided over by Folashodun Shonubi, former acting governor of CBN.
The development comes as Nigeriaโs inflation soared unabated for twelve consecutive times in 2023, at 28.92 per cent in December.
Since June 14, when the Naira was floating, the countryโs currency has fluctuated, which stood at 902.45 per US dollar at the FMDQ forex market on Friday.
OsunDailyNG gathered that the inaugural MPC meeting will have to deal with the countryโs rising inflation and other monetary challenges facing Nigeriaโs economy.
