Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s ex-Communication aide, Bashir Ahmad, has revealed who will become the new Minister of Petroleum.
OsunDailyNG reports that President Tinubu, who announced the full list of ministerial portfolios on Wednesday, failed to name a minister of petroleum resources but split the ministry into two.
Recall that during the immediate-past administration, Buhari assigned the ministry to himself and named Timipre Sylva as the Minister of State for Petroleum.
In a post via Twitter on Thursday, Ahmad claimed that Tinubu is the potential minister of Petroleum Resources.
According to him, Tinubu would be taking after former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari, who opted to assign the ministry to themselves.
He wrote: “President Bola Tinubu is our potential Minister of Petroleum Resources. He will be following in the footsteps of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari, who occupied the post during their tenures.
“This time there are two junior ministers under the Ministry, a Minister of State for Petroleum and a Minister of State for Gas Resources.”
President Tinubu Scraps Ministry Of Niger Delta Affairs
Meanwhile, President Tinubu has scrapped the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
It was gathered that the Ministry of Niger Delta was scrapped over duplication of efforts as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) remains functional.
Sources, who reportedly spoke to SaharaReporters on the development, said all responsibilities of the scrapped Ministry have now been moved to the NDDC.
Tinubu has scrapped the Ministry of Niger Delta. It was done because there is the Niger Delta Development Commission so it is like they are duplicating efforts. Now, all works done by the Ministry of Niger Delta will be moved to the NDDC,” one of the sources reportedly noted.
