President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Vincent Ogbulafor.

In a statement on Saturday signed by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, President Buhari said Ogbulafor will be remembered for his role in the development of the nationโ€™s democracy and unity.

The President also commiserated with leaders and members of the PDP, the Olokoro Royal family in Umuahia, and the Government and people of Abia State over the loss of the former minister.

President Buhari commended the zeal of the Prince of Olokoro in sustaining the unity and progress of the country.

Buhari therefore prayed that God will accept the soul of the departed and comfort his family.

OsunDaily News earlier reported that the former PDP National Chairman died in Canada on Friday at the age of 73.

Ortom Mourns Ex-PDP National Chairman

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has mourned the death of the former PDP national chairman, stating thatย Ogbulafor was a true party man who was fair and firm to all.

Ortom, in a condolence message to his Abia state counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu, said Ogbulaforโ€™s contributions to the growth of the PDP cannot be forgotten.

The governor said Ogbulafor made an impact especially when he served as National Secretary, National Chairman and until his death, a prominent member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT).

Ortom lamented the demise of Ogbulafor at this time when his wealth of experience in party administration would have been handy to resolve intractable crises within the party.

He was however stated that the Abia-born politician left a record of excellent services to the party, the nation and humanity at large.

He said: โ€œWhen i was the national auditor of the party under him, Ogbulafor exemplified humility and dedication to duty with the way he led the PDP. He was such a leader per excellence.

โ€œThe PDP and the political class have lost a colourful and fine gentleman. Weโ€™ll miss his deep political craftsmanship.โ€

The governor prayed that God in His infinite mercies, grant the deceased eternal rest and the immediate family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
