Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen is on the verge of completing his move to the Saudi Pro League to the detriment of continuing his burgeoning career in Europe.
OsunDailyNG reported earlier today, August 30, that his current Italian Serie A club, Napoli, have accepted Al Ahli’s bid, which is said to be worth between €75 and €80 million, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Also, the representatives of Osimhen and Al Ahli have agreed on personal terms which could see the 25-year-old Nigerian striker earn between €25 to €30 million per season. The deal is expected to come with a release clause and is expected to keep him at the club for four years.
Note that though Napoli have accepted Al Ahli’s offer and the representatives of Osimhen are happy with what the Saudi Pro League side are offering, the Nigerian striker has the final say.
Hence, the transfer saga is not officially over until Osimhen signs the dotted lines. This also means that there is still a high chance that the Nigerian star will move to Chelsea this summer.
Note that Chelsea, which used to be Osimhen’s dream club, has been pushing for his signature, but the obstacle to that has been the €500,000 per week that the Nigerian is reportedly asking for. There were reports that the reigning African Player of the Year winner has accepted a reduced offer of €350,000 per week, but there is nothing concrete about that yet.
As it stands, the offer from Al Ahli is the most concrete on the table and the Nigerian star is most likely to move to Saudi Pro League this summer.
Breakdown of Victor Osimhen’s potential salary at Al Ahli in Naira:
If Victor Osimhen signs for Al Ahli for €30 million per season, he will earn about 54.6 billion naira per year based on the present exchange rate.
This means that every month, Osimhen will take home ₦4.5 billion, ₦1.1 billion per week, and ₦161 million per day for four years.
Hence, as it stands, Victor Osimhen is between choosing money or choosing to solidify his legacy as one of the best footballers of his generation in Europe.
