Co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mr Bill Gates, has recalled a conversation with his daughter, Phoebe when he was about to come to Nigeria.
Gates who spoke while delivering his opening address at an event in Lagos State, โAdvancing Africa: Unleashing the Power of Youth in Science and Innovationโ, said Phoebe told him he would be lucky to see Nigerian Afrobeats stars, Burna Boy and Rema during his stay in Nigeria.
The Microsoft co-founder revealed that Afrobeats from Nigeria has gained popularity across the world.
He said, โOf course, being here in Nigeria, I canโt help but mention the amazing creativity that goes on here.
โAfrobeats from Nigeria are popular everywhere. When my daughter Phoebe heard I was coming to Nigeria, she said, โYouโre lucky to go see Burna Boy and Rema.โโ
Gates also recalled how he saw Davido and Wizkid perform during his last visit to the country.
โBut I also remember, the last time I was here, I did get to see Davido and Wizkid perform and I was quite impressed with that. So, my kids think Iโve come to a very hip place,โ he added.
