Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service, JIRS, has warned all taxpayers to beware of the activities of fraudulent persons.
The JIRS Executive Chairman, Malam Nasir Sabo gade the warning while inaugurating Road Tax Enforcement Teams.
He said about 90 ad-hoc staff have been recruited and inaugurated to serve as Road Tax Enforcement Teams across the Stateโs exit points.
Sabo said the aim was to block the leakages in the road tax collection system and to checkmate the existence of unauthorized roadblocks by fraudulent persons.
According to him, โthe ad-hoc staff are expected to boost sales of road tax stickers by the state government, improve single haulage fees, as well as enforce compliance with the provision of Jigawa State Revenue law on tax taxes.
โWith this new development, we are expecting to double road taxe collection before the end of the year 2024,โ he said.
The Executive Chairman also urged road users, NURTW, NARTO, and all other taxpayers to ensure payment of taxes on time and through the approved channel.
