The Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected and distanced itself from a statement credited to a former National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party, Yekini Nabena, on the Federal Governmentโ€™s plans to relocate some subsidiaries from Abuja to Lagos.

OsunDailyNG reported that Yekini Nabena had called on President Bola Tinubu to approve the relocation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, and some others to justify the decision to move some departments of CBN and FAAN out of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The party, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Doifie Buokoribo, said Nabena spoke for himself, insisting that โ€œhe is on his own.โ€

The Bayelsa APC said Nabena neither consulted the party nor any state leader of the APC in Bayelsa before making his statement, adding that his position was at variance with the policy thrust of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Buokoribo said the Bayelsa chapter of the APC remained in full support of President Tinubuโ€™s policy directions, especially the plan to decongest Abuja and warned against attempts to politicise it.

The party said: โ€ The Bayelsa State APC dissociates itself from political statements issued by a former National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Yekini Nabena

โ€œThe state chapter has for some time taken note of Mr Yekiniโ€™s recent remarks that curiously seem to be at odds with President Bola Ahmed Tinubuโ€™s policy directions.

โ€œThe State Chapter affirms that President Bola Ahmed Tinubuโ€™s time in office so far has yielded the expected results, which are nothing short of excellent and thus his Presidency is one that we boast of as the true ideals of our party are gloriously exhibited.

โ€œAs a party, we fully support the Presidentโ€™s policy directions as they are designed to reset the country for economic prosperity, as we warn against any attempts to politicise the sincere efforts of the Federal Government to reset the country.

โ€œWe wish to inform the general public that Nabenaโ€™s utterances represent only himself, not our party in Bayelsa and our leader.โ€
