Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have again abducted one Dr. Bello Janvako, a Director at the Center for Research, Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State.
OsunDailyNG gathered that Janbako, also a senior lecturer at the Department of Islamic Studies of the same university, was kidnapped at his residence in the Damba area of Gusau, Wednesday night.
A resident of the area, Muhammad Ibrahim, said the terrorists invaded the residence of Janbako at about 1:30am on Wednesday and took him away.
Ibrahim said there was a heavy exchange of fire between the bandits and the security personnel in a bid to foil the abduction of the senior lecturer without success.
He said, “When the bandits arrived at the residence of Bello Janbako, they fired several gunshots to frighten the residents of the area”
“The bandits penetrated the house from where he was abducted but were challenged by the security operatives who arrived in the area in a rescue mission”.
“The security operatives battled the bandits but unfortunately, they could not rescue the university lecturer.
Recall that, another resident of the area who is a Director of Finance in the state ministry of finance, Malam Sabiu was abducted two days earlier
The wife and two children of another finance director, Surajo Hassan, who were also residents of the area were abducted last year.
The State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar could not be reached for comment as of the time of this report.
