The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the absence of the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu from the reconciliation meeting fixed by the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu.
OsunDaily News had earlier reported that Tinubu on Wednesday met with some governors elected on the platform of the APC, National Working Committee (NWC) members and the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the party.
The party’s National Chairman, Adamu and several others were absent from the meeting which was held in Abuja on Wednesday.
Tinubu had called the meeting in order to harmonise the party’s presidential campaign council list and fix a date to flag-off the party’s campaign.
Aside Adamu, the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai were absent from the meeting.
The Spokesperson for the Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo, while speaking on their absence in a chat with Daily Independent, said the APC chieftains did not boycott the meeting.
Keyamo claimed that the APC leaders who were absent from the meeting had important engagements, adding that they sent in their apologies.
He said, “Not at all. Reports that they boycotted the meeting are untrue. They all sent in their apologies for one reason or the other. I think that of El-rufai was because of the preparations for the Economic Summit that started in Kaduna today”.
