A video showing some angry citizens of Niger Republic beating up a female politician has surfaced on social media and has gone viral.
The video is making rounds on the internet at a time the country is going through a coup in which some members of the nationโs military force decided to take over power and force the President, Mohamed Bazoum to step down from power and vacate office.
As seen in the video shared by popular security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama via his Twitter handle, the youths attacked the female politician and beat her up.
Luckily for her, however, some other youths intervened and rescued her from the mob before much harm could be done to her.
Her offence could not be ascertained as of press time.

Niger Republic Military Names General Tchiani As New Leader After Coup
Nigerโs military has named General Abdourahmane Tchiani as the new head of a transitional government in the West African country.
The development is coming two days after President Mohamed Bazoumโs presidential guard restricted access to the presidential residence and offices.
The military also detained the democratically elected President Bazoum, OsunDailyNG reports.
In a live television programme on Friday, Tchiani named himself as the countryโs new leader, saying he was the โpresident of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homelandโ.
The 62-year-old general also said the intervention had been necessary to avoid โthe gradual and inevitable demiseโ of the country.
