Andres Iniesta has gotten another club a few weeks after he decided to leave Japanese Pro League side Vissel Kobe in the middle of the season.
Recall that Iniesta proved how angry he was that he was not playing regularly for Vissel Kobe by deciding to leave the club on July 1.
After that, the 39-year-old 2010 FIFA World Cup winner told the media that he was not planning to retire from the game and that he was open to new offers.
In line with that, Andres Iniesta who made his name in football while championing the midfield of FC Barcelona from 2002 to 2018, officially completed his move to the United Arab Emirates Pro League club, Emirates Club earlier today, August 9.
While in Japan, Iniesta played 134 games for the Japanese giants and helped them win the 2019 domestic Emperor’s Cup and the 2020 Japanese Super Cup.
The former Spain international joined the Japanese side in 2018 after spending 22 years of his career at FC Barcelona. During that period, the FC Barcelona academy graduate made 674 appearances for the club’s senior team and won 32 trophies with the Spanish giants.
On the international scene, Andres Iniesta made 133 international appearances for Spain. Before he retired from international football in 2018, he had helped Spain to win the 2010 World Cup as well as the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
Earlier today, August 9, his new team, Emirates Club, announced his arrival to the UAE’s top division by simply tweeting, “Welcome Iniesta”.
Iniesta is expected to kick off his career in the United Arab Emirates Pro League when his new team takes on Al-Wasl in their first game of the new season on August 19.
