Amir Khan, a former world champion in the light welterweight division, received a two-year ban from all sports after testing positive for banned drugs.
The United Kingdom Anti-Doping announced on Tuesday that Amir Khan, then 36, tested positive for the anabolic drug ostarine after losing to Kell Brook in Manchester in February 2022.
Note that Ostarine is a medication created to have the same effects to testosterone which is not permitted in the body of an athlete.
When he announced his retirement in May of last year, Khan acknowledged breaking the anti-doping laws but said he had not purposely consumed the chemical. An impartial panel backed Khanโs claim following a hearing in January.
His provisional suspension was imposed on April 6, 2022, and the ban is believed to have started on that date. It will end on April 5, 2024.
