Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has reassured citizens that his government will sustain efforts to ensure a better livelihood and a rancour-free state where goodwill, love, unity and prosperity will reign supreme.
The Governor who disclosed this in a message to the people of the state, expressed optimism that better days lie ahead for the people.
He said the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ should afford the people the opportunity to exude love for one another and to share gifts as well as quality time with the less privileged, friends and family members.
Gov Ália maintained that Christmas is a moment for the people to imbibe the timeless values of compassion, tolerance as well as forgiveness irrespective of ethnic, cultural and historical differences as exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ.
He described this year’s yuletide as unique in the sense that it was his first year in office as governor when the baton of a democratically elected office was handed over to him, assuring on behalf of his team never to let the people down.
The governor who appealed to Benue people to shun acts that dislocate unity among the people advised them to learn to live in harmony with one another irrespective of religious, ethnic or political leanings.
” Always watch out for their media propaganda often couched in press conferences, staged video clips, doctored audio files and massage, watch out those who have abdicated their primary legislative responsibilities which they were voted to Abuja to perform but have rather resorted to poisoning the minds of the people with hate in the bid to divide the people”.
The governor urged the people to remember to visit the sick, as well as provide refuge to those who could not enjoy Christmas at their homes with families or have been sacked from their homes by insurgency or violence, particularly the IDPs.
