Vice President Kashim Shettima has highlighted Agricultural revolution as a solution for the countryโs instability and poverty.
Shettima made the remarks during a presentation at the Al-Hikmah Universityโs 13th convocation lecture in Ilorin, Kwara.
Making the presentation titled: โAddressing Nigeriaโs Food Security Challenge Through Hi-Tech Approach: The Role of Nigerian Universities,โ the vice president said deploying technology to provide food security for the countryโs rising population could be realized.
Shettima emphasized the importance of education and training for the countryโs population to fully benefit from the expanding influence of technology in all facets of human existence.
โIt is only when Nigeria begins to think boldly about revolutionizing production, processing, and guaranteeing sustained food security that it can identify sectors of the nationโs agricultural assets that are most likely to benefit from the application of technology.
โNigeriaโs future can be secured by agricultural revolution through imaginative and bold leadership, a secure and peaceful environment, and a sound education system that does not reduce the limit of the citizens to only the sky.
He stated that Nigeria could minimize its reliance on the rest of the world if the country could employ everyone who seeks work.
The vice president pointed out that Nigeria has no reason to be among the worldโs ten richest countries, stressing the importance of establishing a realistic inventory of the nationโs assets and liabilities.
