There are indications that some presidential aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) may work against the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Some aggrieved presidential aspirants since they lost the ticket of the party to the former Governor of Lagos State have been inactive in the party.
The grievances of some have seen them file a legal suit seeking the disqualification of Tinubu from the 2023 race.
A chieftain of the party who spoke with Daily Sun about the crisis in the party warned that the grievances of the presidential aspirants might cost the party.
He further stated that the earlier the party resolves the differences, the better the chances of APC in the 2023 elections.
The APC chieftain confirmed that many of the aspirants and their loyalties may secretly work against the APC and support candidates of other parties.
A member of Tinubu’s media team while speaking on the crisis with Daily Sun said the APC presidential candidate has done all that he needs to do, adding that he has repeatedly reached out to the aggrieved aspirants.
He further stated that Tinubu has talked to them and visited virtually all of the presidential aspirants at home.
The APC chieftain noted that some of them are in Tinubu’s campaign team, adding that some of them gave donated their campaign offices to Asiwaju.
He added, “But, there are lots of assumptions and needless controversies that some members of the media are creating. If for instance, Amaechi is claiming that he got an inconsequential position, having been a two-time DG of the Buhari campaign council, does he expect Asiwaju to still appoint him to the same position?
“Asiwaju is still reaching out to the aspirants both formally and informally through the back channel. He has done everything possible to assure the aggrieved aspirants that they are together and that he is ever willing to work with them. What else do they want him to do again.”
