Activities climaxing the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, AFRDC, came to a halt on Monday, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led other top government functionaries to lay wreaths in honour of Nigeria’s fallen heroes at the National Arcade, Eagle Square, Abuja.

The AFRDC is an annual event organized by the Ministry of Defence to commemorate the country’s fallen heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of humanity during the first and second world wars, the Nigerian civil war, peace support operations around the world, as well as various internal security operations.

All Services Chiefs led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, and heads of other security agencies among others were at the venue to grace the ceremony.

The President was the first to lay a wreath for the fallen heroes.

This was followed by the Service Chiefs, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas; the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kayode Ariwoola; Minister of Defence, Minister of FCT, Nyeson Wike among others.

The activities also included the firing of the vollies.

Mr President then signed the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Anniversary register.

He went on to release the white pigeons signifying peace, tranquillity and coexistence for the country
