Super Eagles defender, Semi Ajayi has admitted that the Bafana Bafana of South Africa caused Jose Peseiro’s men problems during both teams’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, semi-final encounter on Wednesday night.
Recall that Ajayi was one of the standout players as Super Eagles defeated South Africa 4-2 via penalty shootout.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone after the match, Ajayi said:
“South Africa are tough opponents, we have to give them respect, they played really well.
“They caused us problems but we also caused them problems back and we came out with a win which is all that matters.”
Ajayi is the only player in the Nigeria team to have played every single minute at the 2023 AFCON.
