Royal Antwerp of Belgium star Alhassan Yusuf has been confirmed as the replacement for Wilfred Ndidi in Nigeriaโs squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Yusuf, who was originally named in the Super Eaglesโ 41-man provisional squad for the competition, is expected to join his teammates at their Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, camp on Wednesday.
Itโs the first time the midfielder has earned a call-up to the Super Eagles.
Ndidi sustained an injury prior to Leicester Cityโs 4-1 win against Huddersfield Town on New Yearโs Day.
The 26-year-old has featured for Nigeria at two AFCON finals.
Meanwhile, his clubmate, Kelechi Iheanacho, who is nursing a muscle injury, is expected to join the Super Eagles camp before the start of the AFCON.
The Super Eagles have set up camp in Abu Dhabi ahead of the competition.
