Moses Simon has defended Victor Osimhen after the forward fired blanks in Nigeriaโ€™s 1-0 victory against Angola on Friday.

Osimhen scored in Nigeriaโ€™s opening game against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea.

The Napoli hitman has however failed to register a goal in the Super Eagles last four games at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Simon however said the forward is not thinking about personal glory but the success of the team.

โ€œThe atmosphere is good in the team. Osimhen is thinking about winning, not just scoring,โ€ the winger told a press conference.

โ€œIf he gets a chance to score he will take it, but heโ€™s focused on the teamโ€™s victory first.โ€

Nigeria will face the winner of Saturdayโ€™s quarter-final between Cape Verde and South Africa for a place in the final.
