Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has reacted to a viral claim that he was injured during the Round of 16 game against Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, and is doubtful for Fridayโ€™s quarterfinal clash with Angola.

The Super Eagles beat Cameroon 2-0 last Saturday and are set for Fridayโ€™s face-off with Angola.

Troost-Ekong and Victor Osimhen were not involved in the Super Eagles recovery session on Monday and this fueled the speculation.

Troost-Ekong has confirmed that he is ready to start against Angola if selected by manager Jose Peseiro.

โ€œYou are going to see a team as motivated as we have been for the whole tournament,โ€ he told reporters in Abidjan.

โ€œOur message has stayed the same throughout. Weโ€™re going to be trying to improve on what we did. Itโ€™s going to be a tough game.

โ€œIโ€™m struggling with a small injury since the Ivory Coast game so Iโ€™m just trying to manage myself. But Iโ€™ll be ready to play on Friday if the coach selects me.โ€
