The All Progressives Congress, APC in Osun State, has accused the Ademola Adeleke administration of promoting a needless crisis where none existed.

Osun APC also accused Governor Adeleke of needless tinkering with the choices of legally installed monarchs in Iree and Igbajo towns.

OsunDailyNG recalled that in the twilight of the Adegboyega Oyetola administration, Adegboyega Famodun and Raphael Oluponle were installed Owa of Igbajo and Aree of Iree consecutively.

Governor Adeleke on assumption of office in November 2022 suspended the processes that brought in the two monarchs via an Executive Order.

In January 2024 upon consideration of a review panel constituted by the state government, a White Paper nullified the processes and directed a fresh selection process.

The state government recently approved the appointment of Muritala Oyelakin as the Aree of Iree.

OsunDailyNG also reported that hoodlums and some hunters invaded the venue of the traditional seclusion (Ipebi) at Odofin’s compound in Iree and broke down the doors.

Also, on Friday, sources within the state government revealed that a new Owa of Igbajo has been selected in the person of Dr Ademola Makinde, though the selection has not been officially announced by the state government.

The party in a statement by its chairman, Tajudeen Lawal in Osogbo on Saturday revealed that the appointments of both monarchs were according to the tradition and custom of the two communities.

Lawal said it was unfortunate that Osun State with the level of her advancement in education could be experiencing such.

He insisted that the development smacked of desecration of the culture and customs of the ancient towns.

“When has it become a norm for the government to reselect a monarch for a community in the Governor’s Office and make use of urchins and impostors who are not even from such a community as one-day warrant chiefs?

“How can such an impostor monarch who emerges from such an illegal arrangement earn and command the respect of the people who did not have an input in his illegal re-selection?

“It is a pity that Makinde allowed himself to be a willing tool in the hands of disgruntled political actors who are only interested in throwing the hitherto peaceful Igbajo community into avoidable turmoil.

“Enough of the ridiculing of all Osun traditional and academic institutions by the kick-and-start Governor Adeleke out of his lack of grasp of anything in governance, management, or even rationality.”
