The candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the forthcoming Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency bye-election, Abdulrazak Gidado, has called on the state government to intensify security efforts in the battle against banditry and kidnapping.
The candidate, who made the call on Sunday in Jalingo, the state capital, expressed deep concern over the escalating incidents of kidnappings and killings perpetrated by bandits in certain areas of the state.
He urged both the state and federal governments to promptly address this growing menace to have a hitch free bye-election in the state.
Gidado appealed for the adoption of innovative strategies by security agencies in tackling the criminal elements.
He further implored the citizens of the state to prioritize security consciousness and provide security personnel with any valuable information to aid in achieving the set objectives.
The three local government councils that made up the federal constituency have been ravaged by crimes ranging from kidnapping to armed banditry.
As of the time of filing this report, several persons kidnapped from the three councils especially in Yorro and Jalingo are still being held hostage.
