The Adamawa State Government is set to begin a fresh round of anti-polio vaccination targeted at over 1.3 million children.

The state Primary Health Care Development Agency, ADSPHCDA, which disclosed this, said that the four-day exercise will begin on Thursday, December 14.

The Executive Chairman of ADSPHDA, Dr Sulaiman Bashir told newsmen at a press briefing on Monday that the planned December 14-17 vaccination exercise, the third in the last four months, will consolidate efforts of the state government to ensure that all children are effectively immunized against polio.

He said more than 1.3 million children were vaccinated against polio during each of the previous rounds, indicating that no less number of children would be covered in the fresh exercise.

โ€œIn this agency, prevention is our emphasis,โ€ Bashir asserted, stressing that nothing would be spared to achieve the aim of the government to see that no child of targeted age is left unreached.

He said 1,811 teams of officials will be deployed to the 225 wards across the 21 LGAs of the state to ensure the success of the exercise.

According to him, although Adamawa has no issue with the polio virus, the state is at risk from states and other communities that interact with it.
