Popular Nigerian actor and activist, Yomi Fabiyi, has called for a protest on the first anniversary of the death of singer Mohbad.
Fabiyi, who made the call in a post on his Instagram page, urged Nigerians to attend the next court session of the coronerโs inquest.
He also proposed that protests should be organised towards the first anniversary of Mohbadโs death to further press for justice if no progress is made in the next sitting.
He wrote: โLetโs storm the court peacefully and attend the next coronerโs inquest and protest to register our demands on this case. If nothing tangible is seen or heard, we focus on the day of the one-year anniversary.โ
OsunDailyNG recalls that Mohbad, who was a former signee of the Marlian record label, died on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances.
Following the controversies generated by his death on social media, the Lagos State Police Command inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe his death.
His body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, 2023, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH.
Appearing before the coronerโs court some months later, the pathologist who carried out the autopsy stated that the test could not ascertain the cause of Mohbadโs death because the body had decomposed.
Reacting to the results, the singerโs family, who was not pleased with the outcome, demanded an independent autopsy.
