Three governors from South West geo-political zone have paid a condolence visit to the family of the immediate past governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu.

The three governors, Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) Ademola Adeleke (Osun) and Biodun Oyebamiji (Ekiti) visited Akeredoluโ€™s residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, Friday afternoon.

They were accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Lawal.

The governors paid a condolence visit to the widow of the former governor, Betty Akeredolu and other members of his family.

DAILY POST recalls that the news of the death of the former governor was announced on Wednesday.

Abiodun, while speaking after the visit, disclosed that he and his colleagues from the zone will set up a committee and join the Ondo State Government and the family to give the late governor a befitting burial.

He described the deceased as a courageous man, noting that Akeredolu, during his lifetime, championed the rotation of power to the South.

Abiodun, while addressing journalists on behalf of his colleagues, said, โ€˜โ€™All of us are here on behalf of our families and respective states to commiserate with the family and people of Ondo State.

โ€œWe pray that Almighty God will forgive his sins and repose his soul and grant the wife, the children, family members and the people and government of Ondo State the heart to bear this shocking, sad and painful exit.

โ€˜โ€™He was an advocate for the Southern presidency. We recall vividly the reinvigorated Southern Governorsโ€™ Forum meeting in Delta State two โ€“and-a-half years ago โ€“ that declared that the presidency must come to the South. He championed the cause that the presidency must come to the South and he stayed with it; among several causes he championed.

โ€˜โ€™Governor Akeredolu will be sorely missed by all of us all. The void left will be difficult to fill. Collectively, we will be partially, majorly responsible for the funeral rite in according him the farewell that he deserves.

โ€˜โ€™We will work with the family to give him a deserving farewell. We have spoken with the family. We will be setting up a joint committee of Southwest states to work with the family and the government of Ondo State to make sure we give him a deserving farewell.โ€
