Nigerian defender, Calvin Bassey, who just completed his move to Premier League club, Fulham, has expressed his excitement over the move.
Bassey who left Ajax this summer after joining the Dutch giants from Glasgow Rangers a season ago, believes he has all it takes to help Fulham improve on their Premier League performance from the previous campaign.
After switching from Rangers to Ajax in the Eredivisie, Bassey made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch team, including six in the Champions League.
Rangers decided to buy him last summer following his fruitful two-year stint at Ibrox, where he won the Scottish Cup and Scottish Premiership in 2020โ21 and 202โ21, respectively.
Fulham aim to improve on their 10th-place finish from the previous season with the signing of the 23-year-old Calvin Bassey.
The club said in a statement, โThe Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Calvin Bassey from Ajax for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance, which is expected to be received during the early part of next week.โ
Bassey could make his debut as a Fulham player against Everton at Goodison Park on August 12. Ahead of his debut, the Nigeria international told the clubโs official website how excited he feels to join the Premier League side.
Bassey who started his Premier League career at Leicester City, said, โI know how big of a club Fulham is. They always have quality players; theyโre playing in the Premier League, the best league in the world, so I didnโt have to think much about it.
โItโs a London club as well, so itโs always a plus to go home! Iโm happy itโs all done now, and I can just focus on the football and help the team build on last season when they did amazing.โ
