Nigerian journalist and Arise TV host, Rufai Oseni, has claimed that the bar for excellence regarding the ministerial nominees of President Bola Tinubu is utterly low.
OsunDailyNG reports that the ministerial list, which consists of 28 nominees, including some immediate past governors, has remained a topic of discussion since its release on Thursday.
While the ruling party claimed it is a well-deserved list, other opposition parties have said the list falls short of Nigeriansโ expectations, especially after President Tinubu delayed presenting the list to the senate.
Similarly, a former Kaduna lawmaker, Shehu Sani, also described the nomination of ex-governor, Nasir El-Rufai as a โTragedyโ.
According to him, it is surprising that El-Rufai secured a nomination considering what he had said in the past and did in Kaduna State during his tenure.
In a post via Twitter on Friday, Rufai said the governors who made the ministerial list will be applauded if they perform excellently in office and will also be told the truth if they fail.
He tweeted: โSince we don pack 5 former Govs as minister he remain for them to perform ooo. we Dey wait, if they perform we go hail them, if them No perform we go tell dem OOโ
In a subsequent tweet, Oseni frowned at the recycling of old politicians as ministers, stating they should be given something else as Nigeria deserves better.
He tweeted โUtterly miffed that we had to recycle same old politicians as minsters. The bar for excellence is really low-utterly, bloody low
โWe canโt keep playing this obnoxious game of Russian roulette with our future. Give the spoilsmen something else, Nigerians deserve better!
โItโs sad some people think governance is childโs play-I guess they watched too much โchuckyโ Letโs keep the deceit game going, We keep trying until we get the teddy picker game rightโ
