President Bola Tinubu is set to submit his list of ministerial nominees to the Senate today, pending any unforeseen changes.

President Tinubu who took over office on May 29, succeeding former President Muhammadu Buhari, as per the constitution, is expected to form his cabinet within 60 days of taking office.

As the President keeps Nigerians in suspense, various alleged ministerial lists have been circulated.

Information reliably sourced by Vanguard reveals that the list comprises former governors, technocrats, and professionals.

Top on the list for screening are several well-known names.

They include former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufia, Dele Alake, who currently serves as Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, and ex-governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola. Other names on the list include Wale Edun, immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Adebayo Adelabu and Beta Edu.

There are speculations that President Tinubu plans to form a government of national unity, which will include leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Multiple sources confirmed to Vanguard that the President will submit the list to the Senate “today”.

Also likely to be on the list are Special Advisers Dele Alake and Wale Edun.

A source said, “He will be sending 43 names; he is expected to send 43 names, one nominee per state, including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, that’s 37.

“The list will also include a name from each of the geo-political zones in the country.”

Another source who spoke with Vanguard said that “all things being equal, the list should be unveiled today.

“I know Mallam Nasir el-Rufai is on the list; the lawmaker representing Lagos East senatorial district, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, too may be on the list if he is not changed. Former Osun State governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola too is there. Legal luminary, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, may likely emerge as the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice because last week, he was still being debated.”
