Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) went wild with officials of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Lagos in an attempt to re-arrest the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
OsunDailyNG reported earlier that Emefiele, who was earlier charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition by the Federal Ministry of Justice, was granted bail today in the sum of N20 million.
However, there was a scuttle between DSS operatives and prison officials over who would take custody of the embattled Emefiele.
The tussle between the two agencies continued for several minutes before the DSS operatives eventually backed down and allowed the NCS to take custody of Emefiele.
OsunDailyNG gathered that amid the tussle, the DSS arrested a top official of Ikoyi Prisons on the premises of the Federal High Court in Lagos State.
In viral videos on social media, the DSS operatives at the court were seen beating and harassing the prison official. The secret police are said to have shuffled the prison official into their vehicle but later released him.
