Victor Osimhen is willing to continue his career with the Italian Serie A giants, Napoli, according to the clubโs manager Rudi Garcia.
After a very stunning 2022-2023 season in which Osimhen scored 26 league goals and provided five assists, a series of European clubs have been pushing to sign the 24-year-old Nigerian striker.
Hence, Osimhenโs future at Napoli who he helped to win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years last season is uncertain.
Amidst Interest from various clubs, Napoli are pushing to extend his contract and improve his wages even though his current contract will expire on June 30, 2025.
Even though Osimhenโs demand for improved salary and disagreement over the โฌ200 million release clause inserted into his potential new contract has continued to delay his contract extension, coach Garcia is optimistic that the Nigeria international wonโt be sold this summer.
While Napoli are said not to be interested in selling Osimhen this summer, the clubโs president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is willing to accept any offer in the region of โฌ200 million for Osimhen this summer. But no club is ready to pay that high for the 24-year-old striker.
On the other hand, coach Garcia stressed that Osimhen is calm at Napoli and the Italian champions are aiming to keep their top players at the club beyond this summer.
โIโve had positive feelings. The group has impressed me, and itโs pleasing. The first target is to keep all our players. Osimhen has a contract, and heโs calm,โ Garcia said in an interview with Il Corriere dello Sport.
โHe is one of the best strikers out there, and we are happy heโs playing with us. Iโve spoken to all players, including Victor. They are all working hard and focusing on training before the start of the season, which is close.โ
