Fulham have made an opening offer of £15 million for Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey who has not been able to establish himself at Ajax so far.
Calvin Bassey who still has four years in his contract with the Dutch club has been a subject of criticism from fans and pundits. This is believed to be the reason his future at the club has been filled with uncertainty.
Even though Ajax are yet to respond to any of Calvin Bassey’s suitors, there are reports that the 23-year-old Nigerian defender could leave the Dutch side this summer.
Amidst Fulham’s interest in Bassey, Brighton have also shown interest in him but are yet to make an official bid.
Recall that Bassey joined Ajax last summer after two outstanding seasons at Glasgow Rangers, where he played 65 games and won the Scottish Cup and league championship in 2021.
Since his arrival at Ajax, the Nigeria international has played 39 games in all competitions for the Dutch side in which he scored a goal and provided an assist.
Meanwhile, Villarreal and AC Milan have resumed transfer talks over Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze who reportedly want a new challenge.
According to Calciomercato, Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani led a second round of discussions on Wednesday to convince Villarreal to lower their £35 million asking price for the midfielder after previous talks broke down.
The 24-year-old has one year left on his Villarreal contract and has been identified as Milan’s top transfer target this summer.
Chukwueze’s transfer fee proved to be a stumbling block when Furlani met with Villarreal representatives in Italy a few weeks ago to begin talks about transferring the Nigerian to Milan.
Villarreal rejected the initial £25 million bid from Milan as the Spanish side are demanding £35 million to sell Chukwueze who still has a season left on his contract with the Spanish side.
