The immediate past governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has challenged a Civil Society Organization (CSO) to provide evidence that his administration obtained a N10 billion loan for the installation of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in the Kano metropolis.
Ganduje, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja through the Commissioner for Information under his administration, Muhammad Garba, explained that a Federal High Court had in 2022 restrained his government from obtaining the said loan.
The former governor described the reports credited to the โnon-existentโ civil society organisation, the Coalition of Political Analysis Forum and Governance, as misleading and untrue.
According to Garba, the organizations were designed to discredit the former governor by โignorantlyโ calling for an investigation into why the money was not spent on the project.
He said, โTo further confirm that they are fake, the so-called organization knew nothing about the project, and the hastiness with which their paymasters want them to be in the media exposes clearly, their intent.
โWe, therefore, challenge them to provide evidence for the N10 billion Naira loan.
โFor record purposes, when the last administration conceived the project, the State Executive Council and the Assembly formally granted approval bearing in mind the importance of the project in enhancing security in the state.
โUnfortunately, a Federal High Court in Kano, on July 1, 2022 granted an injunction restraining the government from obtaining the loan.โ
