Former Kaduna State Military Governor, Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to avoid appointing desperate lobbyists in his cabinet.
OsunDailyNG reports that the former Military officer made this known in a statement to journalists on Tuesday.
Umar Dangiwa stressed that public office is a trust and should not be given to individuals of questionable character, adding that Tinubu should beย cautious of individuals who are desperate for appointments.
He accused former state governors of displayingย embarrassing desperation for positions.
According to Dangiwa, some former governorsย have left their states in financial ruin and heavy indebtedness, while others have exacerbated divisions along religious and ethnic lines.
He emphasized the need for President Tinubu to stay focused on the crucial task of reclaiming the country, which has been described as a failed state by Dr. Umar Ardo.
His statement reads: โShut Your Door Against Desperate Lobbyists, Mr President.
โMr. President, please avoid the company of people who show embarrassing desperation in lobbying for appointments in your government.
โPublic office is a trust that should not be extended to individuals of dubious character, particularly former governors who have bankrupted their states and left them burdened with heavy debts, as well as deeply divided along ethnic and religious lines.
โYou cannot afford to be diverted from the onerous task of reclaiming the country, which Dr. Umar Ardo correctly characterized as a failed state.โ
