2027: Current Govt may use courts to frustrate ADC – David Mark raises alarm

The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, David Mark, has alleged that the current administration is planning to use the courts to sabotage the party’s rising momentum.
The former Senate President raised the alarm in Abuja during a visit by the National Legal Support Group of the ADC, led by Abdullahi Abdurrahman.
Abdurrahman, at the meeting, revealed that no fewer than 310 lawyers have volunteered to defend the party in all ongoing and future legal cases across Nigeria.
According to him, the legal team has representation in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and is fully mobilised to tackle any legal challenges the ADC may face.
He said the party’s legal team includes prominent legal figures such as the ADC’s Legal Adviser, Peter Oyewole; former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN; and former Edo State Governor and legal scholar, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor.
“We are prepared to handle any case that may arise against ADC anywhere in the country,” Abdurrahman said.
Abdurrahman stated further that the lawyers believe in the ability of the current leadership to transform the party and make a meaningful contribution to national development.
He also extolled Senator Mark’s integrity, urging him to use his experience and statesmanship to guide the ADC to national prominence.
The leader of the National Legal Support Group urged the party’s Legal Adviser to provide necessary documents and updates on legal matters to help the team work effectively.
Responding, Oyewole assured the group that all legal protocols surrounding the recent coalition that birthed the new ADC were properly followed.
“There is no cause for alarm,” he stated.
Senator Mark, however, expressed concern about possible legal threats.
“ADC is the party to beat in 2027. The current administration may attempt to use the courts to frustrate our momentum,” he warned.
He urged Nigerians to support the ADC as a credible and patriotic alternative to lead the country forward.
Mark also commended the legal team for their dedication, encouraging them to remain alert and proactive as the party positions itself as a strong contender in the next general elections.
With a growing grassroots presence and a formidable legal structure, the ADC says it is ready to defend its vision and engage in the 2027 political contest.

ADC coalition is to save Nigeria, not about politics – Lamido

Former Governor of Jigawa State and a founding figure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, has declared unflinching support for the opposition coalition backed alliance, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Lamido said the collaboration among opposition forces is driven by a deep concern for Nigeria’s stability, not personal ambitions.
While speaking with journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, Lamido revealed tha the alliance is a timely and necessary response to the growing hardship many Nigerians face under the current administration.
“Any patriotic Nigerian with the common man in his heart must give his contribution to overturn the present administration to save the country—particularly the ordinary people, who are suffering in every sector,” he stated.
Lamido maintained that despite backing the coalition, he has no intention of leaving the PDP.”
“I remain in PDP. It is the party we gave birth to, nurtured, and one that delivered progress to Nigeria and Nigerians. I will not leave it,” Lamido stated.
The elder statesman described his present role in national discourse as one of mentorship and guidance, saying he is more focused on shaping the country’s future than seeking political office.
Lamido’s remarks came at a political gathering held by the PDP in Dutse.
He was alongside Senator Mustapha Khabeeb, who currently represents Jigawa South West at the National Assembly.
The event also featured Alhaji Kabiru Hussaini, the Jigawa State Chairman of the ADC, whom Lamido introduced to PDP members

May God heal Nigeria from trauma – Southern Kaduna Christian leaders mourn late Buhari

The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association, SKCLA, has extended its condolences to the family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari and to the Federal Republic of Nigeria on his demise.
It’s chairman, Apostle Dr Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, in a statement prayed, “May God heal this nation from the traumas of the past and raise leaders who will truly serve all Nigerians with justice, equity, and truth, not favouring one part of the country over another.”
It added, “As a body that speaks onbehalf of a deeply wounded people, we must express the truth without pretense or political correctness. President Buhari’s second term in office stands out in our memory as one of the darkest and toughest eras for the Southern Kaduna people.
“Under his watch, our communities were subjected to unchecked violence, persecution, and marginalization, while the federal government remained either indifferent or complicit through silence.”
The statement said it “remembers with nostalgia his first coming as Nigeria’s military Head of State in 1984–1985”, saying that during that brief period, there was a determined effort to sanitise the Nigerian system, instill national discipline, confront corruption and restore national pride.
The statement explained that the nostalgia of 1984/85 still lives with many of them in spite of the flaws it came with, pointing out that Buhari made them feel that Nigerians can adapt to discipline with the right leadership in place.
It prayed that God will heal the nation from the traumas of the past and raise leaders who will truly serve all Nigerians with justice, equity, and truth, not favouring one part of the country over another.
