Nine senior palace officials have filed a lawsuit against the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and 12 others over alleged illegal eviction and demolition of their residences within the palace.
The suit, numbered K/M1607/2025, is before Justice Musa Ahmad of the Bichi Judicial Division, Kano State.
The applicants—led by Usman Dako, Galadiman Sallama include other titleholders and palace servants, accusing the Emir and the Kano Emirate Council of targeting them for their loyalty to deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. Other respondents include the Inspector General of Police, DSS, NSCDC, and key palace figures.
The court granted an order directing all parties to maintain status quo ante and allowed substituted service of court documents via the Emirate Council Secretariat and courier for Abuja-based respondents.
Speaking in a video circulating online, Dako alleged that palace officials told him the Emir wanted all Bayero loyalists removed. “i was away when my wife called to tell me hoodlums are destroying the house, when i came home the house was in a terrible state ” he said.
He also claimed the house was gifted to his father by the late emir Bayero. “My father was born in the palace and so was i so see no reason why we are being pushed out for loving Emir Aminu when his father has always been good to us” Despite his eviction, Dako reaffirmed his allegiance to Aminu Ado Bayero.
As at the time of filing this report, neither Emir Sanusi II nor the Kano Emirate Council has issued a statement regarding the development.

Kebbi: CP Sani condemns killing of three officers, vows crackdown on bandits

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, has vowed that the command will intensify its crackdown on criminal gangs operating in the state, particularly targeting those responsible for the recent ambush that claimed the lives of three police officers.
CP Sani made the commitment while reacting to Friday’s attack by suspected Lakurawa bandits along the Zogirma–Tilli Road in Bunza Local Government Area.
The assailants, believed to be targeting travellers, were intercepted by police operatives in a gun duel that left several bandits dead, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Despite successfully repelling the attack, the Commissioner confirmed that three gallant officers were killed in the crossfire.
“These officers died as heroes. They stood their ground to protect innocent lives, and their sacrifice will not be in vain.
“We will hunt down those responsible, and their informants, wherever they are hiding,” he said.
The Commissioner praised the swift response of the security team and noted that ongoing intelligence operations have been expanded across vulnerable border communities in the state.
He also confirmed that coordination with the Nigerian Army and local vigilantes has been strengthened, especially following another attempted bandit invasion in Ribah, Zuru Emirate, which was foiled by troops earlier in the week.
CP Sani stressed that residents should remain vigilant and report suspicious movements in their communities, promising confidentiality and rapid response.
“The police cannot be everywhere at once, but with timely information, we will respond swiftly and decisively,” he assured.
