A 22-year-old man, Olajide Babatunde, was on Monday docked in a magistratesโ court in Ile-Ife, Osun, for allegedly assaulting a doctor at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife.
The prosecution counsel, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 11, 2023, around 10:30 a.m. at the accident and emergency unit of the hospital.
Mr Osanyintuyi said the defendant assaulted Olom Eyare while she was performing her duty.
He said the defendant also assaulted a security guard, Makinde Idowu, at OAUTHC.
He said the offence contravened sections 437 and 351 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defence counsel, Sunday Olagbaju, prayed the court to admit his client to bail in the most liberal terms.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi admitted the defendant to N100,000 bail with one surety in like amount.
Ms Sarumi ordered that the surety swear an affidavit of means, reside within the court jurisdiction, be the landed owner and ensure the submission of original documents with three recent passport photographs.
She adjourned the case until June 21 for a hearing.
