FCT Police warn as Okada riders allegedly plan attacks on task force officials

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has issued a stern warning over an alleged plot by okada riders to launch attacks on task force officials operating within the Kubwa axis.
OSUNDAILY NG reports that a voice note currently circulating on social media suggests that a group of commercial motorcyclists have concluded plans to attack officials of the FCT Task Force.
It was alleged that task force officials recently carried out a clampdown on the motorcyclists, impounding over 200 motorcycles.
Reacting, the police command, in a statement issued on Thursday night by its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said such conduct amounts to “criminality and will be met with the full weight of the law”.
According to Josephine, the “command will not hesitate to deploy all lawful means, including arrests, prosecution, and necessary force, to deal decisively with perpetrators of public disorder”.
The statement further warned that the command possesses both the capacity and the resolve to protect public officers, safeguard lives and property, and ensure law and order within the FCT.

Alleged N6.9bn fraud: EFCC vows to appeal Fayose’s acquittal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said it will appeal the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, which acquitted and discharged former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, of alleged N6.9 billion fraud.
This was contained in a statement issued via the anti-graft agency’s official X handle on Wednesday.
OSUNDAILY NG reports that the court on Wednesday discharged and acquitted Fayose of all charges in the long-running N6.9 billion money laundering case filed against him by the EFCC.
“Sequel to the judgement of Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, acquitting and discharging a former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose from an alleged money laundering case preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Commission wishes to state that it is already studying the ruling and preparing for an appeal.
“The former governor was re-arraigned on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, alongside Spotless Investment Limited on an 11-count charge bordering on money laundering and stealing to the tune of N6.9bn,” the agency said in the statement.

Atiku’s obsession with presidential ambition knows no sympathy — Keyamo

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has blasted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for announcing his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at a time the nation is mourning ex-president Muhammadu Buhari.
Keyamo made this known in a statement on his X account on Wednesday.
His comment comes as Atiku Abubakar, who was the PDP presidential candidate at the 2023 election, officially dumped the opposition party on Wednesday.
Keyamo added that it is morally and legally wrong for Atiku to continue to use the Coat of Arms of the Federal Government in his private or political communications when he is no longer a functionary of the Federal Government.
“Your Excellency, @atiku, whilst I acknowledge that it is within your constitutional right to change political parties at any time you may wish, however, releasing your letter of resignation from the PDP during this week of the mourning of our immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari, is clearly an attempt to draw the spotlight away from such a solemn occasion and direct it on yourself. In fact (as the image below shows), you prepared, typed, signed, and delivered that letter the morning after the passing away of the former president was announced. With the greatest respect to you, this clearly demonstrates that your obsession with your perennial presidential ambition knows no sympathy or empathy.
“And since we are on the issue of your letter, it is both morally and legally wrong to continue to use the Coat of Arms of the Federal Government in your private or political communications when you stopped being a functionary of the Federal Government more than 18 years ago. Section 6 of the Flag and Coat of Arms Act, Cap. F30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, makes this an offence.
“Morally, it is also reprehensible to use a symbol suggesting that you are acting on behalf of the authority that symbol represents. It borders on impersonation. Imagine a situation where all former government functionaries continue to use the Coat of Arms of Nigeria in their personal, political, or private communications. There would certainly be confusion everywhere.
“I have a bounden duty both as a Cabinet member and a member of the Inner Bar to protect our laws and constitution. Please, be well guided,” he wrote on X.
