Gbenga Moses, a fresh graduate from the Ondo State-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), has been found dead, OsunDaily has learnt.
Mr Moses, who was awaiting his call-up letter for mobilisation for the one-year mandatory National Youths Service Corp (NYSC), was suspected to have died of food poisoning.
The Gazette learnt that the remains of the deceased, known as โPabloโ among his colleagues, was found unconscious in his room after he failed to come out.
Several student sources revealed that the young chap who graduated from the University, Department of Philosophy, had earlier eaten a meal with his girlfriend at a restaurant in the university town.
One of the sources, who does not want her name mentioned, revealed that Mr Moses was rushed to a private hospital after he took the meal.
โBut he was treated and discharged with his girlfriend that same day and went back to his room.
โOn Sunday morning, we expected him to come out of his room. We knocked on his door. He didnโt open it. We called him on his phone, he did not respond.
โWe had to barge in his room through the window at exactly 11 am and that was when we found him dead,โ the source told The Gazette on Monday.
He added that girlfriend of the deceased was in a โcritical conditionโ despite being attended to in the hospital.
Olusegun Akanbi, the Dean of Student Affairs, confirmed the tragic incident to our reporter in a phone chat.
Mr Akanbi said the parents of Mr Moses had already been invited by the school authority, describing the incident as โtragic.โ
In a brief chat, Spokesperson for the AAUA, Victor Akinpelumi, said an investigative team has been set up by the institution to unravel the true situation about the incident.
